Topical Collection Information:
Dear Colleagues,
The Microbial Innovations for Sustainable Development (MISD 2026) Topical Collection invites submissions that explore microbial technologies to address global sustainability challenges, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and algae, offer innovative solutions for agriculture, environmental remediation, bioenergy, and health, tackling issues like pollution, food insecurity, and climate change. Escalating environmental degradation and resource depletion demand sustainable alternatives. Microbial innovations, including bioremediation, biofertilizers, microbial pesticides, and biofuels, provide eco-friendly solutions, reducing reliance on harmful chemicals and supporting a circular economy. Advances in synthetic biology and microbiome research enhance their potential for scalable impact.
Aims: MISD 2026 seeks to focus on major thrust areas:
- PGPM & biocontrol for Sustainable Agriculture
- Bioremediation and Environmental Sustainability
- Industrial Applications of Microbes
- Microbial Solutions and bio-fertiliser for Climate Change
- AI & OMICS in Microbiology
- Food Microbiology
- Health and Microbial Innovations
