Interests: Ecology of Freshwater Benthic Organisms: Have experience in studying benthic organisms in freshwater environments, continue to explore the ecology, distribution and adaptations of these organisms to different environmental conditions; Aquatic ecosystem management: Given my involvement in projects aimed at assessing water quality, sediment distribution and benthic fauna in different aquatic habitats, I develop research related to the management and conservation of these ecosystems; Impact of natural and anthropogenic factors: Experience in assessing the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on water quality and ecosystems, I continue to research how these factors influence the aquatic environment and develop strategies to mitigate negative effects.

Topical Collection Information:

Dear Colleagues,

This Topical Collection aims to delve into the rich diversity and ecological intricacies of aquatic ecosystems within the Danube Delta region. The Danube Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a unique and ecologically vital area with its complex network of rivers, lakes, wetlands, and diverse flora and fauna. This collection seeks to build upon the extensive research conducted by our team and offers a platform for scholars to contribute their expertise to our understanding of this remarkable ecosystem.

Aims:

  • Biodiversity Assessment: Investigate and document the diverse array of invertebrate and other aquatic organisms found within the Danube Delta and its associated ecosystems.
  • Ecosystem Health: Assess the overall health and ecological status of the Danube Delta, including the impacts of natural and anthropogenic factors.
  • Conservation and Management: Explore strategies for the sustainable management and conservation of the Danube Delta's unique biodiversity, including insights from your own research.
  • Community Engagement: Share findings related to citizen science initiatives, educational outreach, and stakeholder engagement aimed at promoting awareness and responsible environmental practices.

Submission Guidelines:

Authors are invited to submit original research articles, reviews, and case studies related to the biodiversity, ecology, and conservation of the Danube Delta's aquatic ecosystems. Contributions may cover a wide range of topics, from taxonomic studies to ecosystem modeling and management strategies.

Editorial Team:

We invite researchers, conservationists, and experts in the field to contribute their knowledge and insights to this Topical Collection. Together, we aim to advance our understanding of the Danube Delta's aquatic ecosystems and work towards their preservation for generations to come.
