The construction industry is a major contributor to global resource consumption and environmental degradation, highlighting the need for effective management-oriented approaches to sustainability. Although previous studies have mostly focused on green building technologies and evaluation instruments, an increasing trend has been observed towards how construction management has influenced emerging environmental outcomes. The article is also based on a critical synthesis of available literature, and thus it helps to understand the conceptual basis of green construction management and explore how environmental performance comes out of managerial choices made at the planning, procurement, and construction execution phases. The review identifies that environmental performance is multidimensional, and it uses energy consumption, emissions, material efficiency, waste generation, and pollution control, explaining the difficulties in measuring and controlling these effects in fragmented project delivery systems. Specific focus is put on how green management practices relate to the facilitating digital technologies, including Building Information Modeling and data-driven monitoring tools, in facilitating informed decision-making and performance improvement. The critical institutional, organizational, and project-level forces and obstacles in attaining green construction management have also been analyzed in the article. This review gives a consistent picture of how construction management can help to improve environmental performance by incorporating knowledge on managerial practices, technological enablers, and strategic responses. The results provide practical implications for project managers and policymakers and also point to future research directions that will aid in the further development of green construction management concerning sustainable project delivery.
